لَيْسَ الْغِنَى عَنْ كَثْرَةِ الْعَرَضِ، وَلَكِنَّ الْغِنَى غِنَى النَّفْسِ

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Wealth is not in having many possessions, but rather (true) wealth is feeling sufficiency in the soul."

لاَ يَشْكُرُ اللَّهَ مَنْ لاَ يَشْكُرُ النَّاسَ

Narrated Abu Hurayrah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "He who does not thank the people is not thankful to Allah."

يَسِّرُوا وَلاَ تُعَسِّرُوا وَبَشِّرُوا وَلاَ تُنَفِّرُوا

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Facilitate things to people (concerning religious matters), and do not make it hard for them and give them good tidings and do not make them run away (from Islam)."

كُلُّ ابْنِ آدَمَ خَطَّاءٌ وَخَيْرُ الْخَطَّائِينَ التَّوَّابُونَ

Anas reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Every son of Adam sins, and the best of the sinners are the repentant."

يَقُولُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي، وَأَنَا مَعَهُ إِذَا ذَكَرَنِي، فَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي، وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلَإٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلَإٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah the Almighty says: 'I am as My servant thinks of Me. I am with him when he remembers Me. If he mentions Me within himself, I mention him within Myself. If he mentions Me in an assembly, I mention him in an assembly far better than his.'"

مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ تُصِيبُهُ مُصِيبَةٌ فَيَقُولُ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا إِلاَّ أَخْلَفَ اللَّهُ لَهُ خَيْرًا مِنْهَا

Umm Salamah reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say, "There is no Muslim stricken with a calamity who says what Allah has commanded — 'Verily to Allah we belong and to Him we return; O Allah, reward me for my affliction and replace it for me with something better' — except that Allah will replace it for him with something better."

وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ فِي الْيَوْمِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "By Allah! I seek Allah's forgiveness and repent to Him more than seventy times a day."

الدُّنْيَا سِجْنُ الْمُؤْمِنِ وَجَنَّةُ الْكَافِرِ

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "The world is a prison for the believer and a paradise for the disbeliever."

نِعْمَتَانِ مَغْبُونٌ فِيهِمَا كَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ الصِّحَّةُ وَالْفَرَاغُ

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "There are two blessings which many people squander: good health and free time."

كُنْ فِي الدُّنْيَا كَأَنَّكَ غَرِيبٌ أَوْ عَابِرُ سَبِيلٍ

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar (RA): Allah's Messenger ﷺ took hold of my shoulder and said, "Be in this world as though you were a stranger or a wayfarer." Ibn Umar would say: "When evening comes, do not wait for the morning; when morning comes, do not wait for the evening. Take from your health before your illness, and from your life before your death."

بَدَأَ الإِسْلَامُ غَرِيبًا وَسَيَعُودُ كَمَا بَدَأَ غَرِيبًا فَطُوبَى لِلْغُرَبَاءِ

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Islam began as something strange and will return to being something strange, so blessed are the strangers."

مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ دَاءً إِلَّا أَنْزَلَ لَهُ شِفَاءً

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah has not sent down any disease except that He has also sent down a cure for it."

الْمُؤْمِنُ الْقَوِيُّ خَيْرٌ وَأَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِ الضَّعِيفِ وَفِي كُلٍّ خَيْرٌ احْرِصْ عَلَى مَا يَنْفَعُكَ وَاسْتَعِنْ بِاللَّهِ وَلاَ تَعْجَزْ وَإِنْ أَصَابَكَ شَيْءٌ فَلاَ تَقُلْ لَوْ أَنِّي فَعَلْتُ كَانَ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَلَكِنْ قُلْ قَدَّرَ اللَّهُ وَمَا شَاءَ فَعَلَ فَإِنَّ لَوْ تَفْتَحُ عَمَلَ الشَّيْطَانِ

Abu Huraira (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak believer, and there is good in everyone. Cherish what gives you benefit, seek help from Allah and do not give up. If any adversity comes to you, do not say: "If only I had done such-and-such." Rather say: "Allah decreed it and what He wills He does," for saying "if only" opens the door to the work of Shaytan.'

حُجِبَتِ النَّارُ بِالشَّهَوَاتِ وَحُجِبَتِ الْجَنَّةُ بِالْمَكَارِهِ

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The Hellfire is veiled by desires and pleasures, and Paradise is veiled by hardships and difficulties.'

إِنَّمَا الصَّبْرُ عِنْدَ الصَّدْمَةِ الأُولَى

Narrated Anas ibn Malik (RA): The Prophet ﷺ passed by a woman who was weeping at a grave. He told her, 'Fear Allah and be patient.' She said, 'Go away from me, for you have not been afflicted with a calamity like mine!' She did not recognise him. Then she was told it was the Prophet ﷺ, so she came to his house and said: 'I did not recognise you.' He ﷺ said, 'Verily, patience is at the first stroke of calamity.'

مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَمُوتُ فَيَقُومُ عَلَى جَنَازَتِهِ أَرْبَعُونَ رَجُلًا لَا يُشْرِكُونَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا إِلَّا شَفَّعَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِيهِ

Narrated Ibn Abbas (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, 'If any Muslim dies and forty men who associate nothing with Allah stand over his funeral prayer, Allah will accept their intercession for him.'

عَلَيْكُمْ بِهَذِهِ الْحَبَّةِ السَّوْدَاءِ فَإِنَّ فِيهَا شِفَاءً مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ إِلَّا السَّامَ

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, 'Use this black seed — for it is a cure for every disease except death.'

اجْتَمِعُوا عَلَى طَعَامِكُمْ وَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ يُبَارَكْ لَكُمْ فِيهِ

Narrated Wahshi ibn Harb (RA): The companions asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, we eat but are not satisfied.' He said, 'Perhaps you eat separately.' They said yes. He said, 'Gather together over your food, mention the name of Allah over it — it will be blessed for you.'

إِنَّ لِجَسَدِكَ عَلَيْكَ حَقًّا وَإِنَّ لِعَيْنَيْكَ عَلَيْكَ حَقًّا وَإِنَّ لِزَوْجِكَ عَلَيْكَ حَقًّا

Narrated 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said, 'Your body has a right over you, your eyes have a right over you, and your spouse has a right over you.'

إِنَّ عِظَمَ الْجَزَاءِ مَعَ عِظَمِ الْبَلَاءِ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ إِذَا أَحَبَّ قَوْمًا ابْتَلَاهُمْ فَمَنْ رَضِيَ فَلَهُ الرِّضَا وَمَنْ سَخِطَ فَلَهُ السَّخَطُ

Narrated Anas ibn Malik (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, 'The greatness of the reward is commensurate with the greatness of the trial. When Allah loves a people He tests them. Whoever accepts it with patience will have contentment, and whoever reacts with resentment will have resentment.'

مَنْ أَصْبَحَ مِنْكُمْ آمِنًا فِي سِرْبِهِ مُعَافًى فِي جَسَدِهِ عِنْدَهُ قُوتُ يَوْمِهِ فَكَأَنَّمَا حِيزَتْ لَهُ الدُّنْيَا

Narrated Salama ibn 'Ubaydullah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, 'Whoever among you wakes up secure in his dwelling, healthy in his body, and has food for that day — it is as though the entire world has been gathered for him.'

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ وَرُزِقَ كَفَافًا وَقَنَّعَهُ اللَّهُ بِمَا آتَاهُ

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Successful is the one who has accepted Islam, has been given sufficient provision, and whom Allah has made content with what He has given him."

وَاللَّهِ مَا الدُّنْيَا فِي الآخِرَةِ إِلاَّ مِثْلُ مَا يَجْعَلُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِصْبَعَهُ هَذِهِ فِي الْيَمِّ فَلْيَنْظُرْ بِمَ يَرْجِعُ

Narrated Al-Mustawrid (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "By Allah, this world in comparison to the Hereafter is like one of you dipping his finger into the ocean — let him see what it brings back."

إِنَّ الدِّينَ يُسْرٌ، وَلَنْ يُشَادَّ الدِّينَ أَحَدٌ إِلاَّ غَلَبَهُ، فَسَدِّدُوا وَقَارِبُوا وَأَبْشِرُوا، وَاسْتَعِينُوا بِالْغَدْوَةِ وَالرَّوْحَةِ وَشَىْءٍ مِنَ الدُّلْجَةِ

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said, "The religion is easy, and no one overburdens himself in religion except that it overwhelms him. So aim for what is right, come as close to it as you can, and receive glad tidings; and seek help [in worship] in the morning, in the afternoon and in part of the night."

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيَرْضَى عَنِ الْعَبْدِ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الأَكْلَةَ فَيَحْمَدَهُ عَلَيْهَا أَوْ يَشْرَبَ الشَّرْبَةَ فَيَحْمَدَهُ عَلَيْهَا

Narrated Anas ibn Malik (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Allah is pleased with His servant who eats a meal and praises Him for it, or drinks a drink and praises Him for it."

إِذَا نَظَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى مَنْ فُضِّلَ عَلَيْهِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْخَلْقِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى مَنْ هُوَ أَسْفَلَ مِنْهُ مِمَّنْ فُضِّلَ عَلَيْهِ

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "When one of you looks at someone who has been given more than him in wealth and appearance, let him look at someone below him in those things."

قَالَ اللَّهُ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنَّكَ مَا دَعَوْتَنِي وَرَجَوْتَنِي غَفَرْتُ لَكَ عَلَى مَا كَانَ فِيكَ وَلاَ أُبَالِي يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ لَوْ بَلَغَتْ ذُنُوبُكَ عَنَانَ السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ اسْتَغْفَرْتَنِي غَفَرْتُ لَكَ وَلاَ أُبَالِي يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنَّكَ لَوْ أَتَيْتَنِي بِقُرَابِ الأَرْضِ خَطَايَا ثُمَّ لَقِيتَنِي لاَ تُشْرِكُ بِي شَيْئًا لأَتَيْتُكَ بِقُرَابِهَا مَغْفِرَةً

Narrated Anas ibn Malik (RA): I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say, "Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: 'O son of Adam, as long as you call upon Me and hope in Me, I will forgive you for what you have done, and I do not mind. O son of Adam, if your sins were to reach the clouds of the sky and then you sought My forgiveness, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, if you came to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and then met Me without associating anything with Me, I would come to you with forgiveness nearly as great as it.'"

لَمَّا قَضَى اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ كَتَبَ فِي كِتَابِهِ، فَهْوَ عِنْدَهُ فَوْقَ الْعَرْشِ إِنَّ رَحْمَتِي غَلَبَتْ غَضَبِي

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "When Allah completed the creation, He wrote in His Book, which is with Him above the Throne: 'Indeed, My mercy prevails over My anger.'"

عَجَبًا لأَمْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِ إِنَّ أَمْرَهُ كُلَّهُ خَيْرٌ وَلَيْسَ ذَاكَ لأَحَدٍ إِلاَّ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ إِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ سَرَّاءُ شَكَرَ فَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُ وَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ ضَرَّاءُ صَبَرَ فَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُ

Narrated Suhayb (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "How amazing is the affair of the believer! All of his affairs are good for him, and this is for no one except the believer. If something good happens to him, he is grateful, and that is good for him; and if something bad happens to him, he is patient, and that is good for him."

مَا يُصِيبُ الْمُسْلِمَ مِنْ نَصَبٍ وَلاَ وَصَبٍ وَلاَ هَمٍّ وَلاَ حُزْنٍ وَلاَ أَذًى وَلاَ غَمٍّ حَتَّى الشَّوْكَةِ يُشَاكُهَا، إِلاَّ كَفَّرَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِنْ خَطَايَاهُ

Narrated Abu Sa'id al-Khudri and Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said, "No fatigue, illness, worry, grief, harm or distress befalls a Muslim — even the prick of a thorn — except that Allah expiates some of his sins because of it."

وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ لَمْ تُذْنِبُوا لَذَهَبَ اللَّهُ بِكُمْ وَلَجَاءَ بِقَوْمٍ يُذْنِبُونَ فَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ اللَّهَ فَيَغْفِرُ لَهُمْ

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "By the One in whose Hand is my soul, if you did not sin, Allah would replace you with people who would sin and then seek Allah's forgiveness, and He would forgive them."

إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَبْسُطُ يَدَهُ بِاللَّيْلِ لِيَتُوبَ مُسِيءُ النَّهَارِ وَيَبْسُطُ يَدَهُ بِالنَّهَارِ لِيَتُوبَ مُسِيءُ اللَّيْلِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ مَغْرِبِهَا

Narrated Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said, "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, stretches out His Hand at night to accept the repentance of the one who sinned during the day, and stretches out His Hand during the day to accept the repentance of the one who sinned during the night — until the sun rises from the west."

اللَّهُ أَفْرَحُ بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ مِنْ أَحَدِكُمْ سَقَطَ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ، وَقَدْ أَضَلَّهُ فِي أَرْضِ فَلاَةٍ

Narrated Anas ibn Malik (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than any of you would be on finding his camel which he had lost in the desert."

مَا خُيِّرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بَيْنَ أَمْرَيْنِ قَطُّ إِلاَّ أَخَذَ أَيْسَرَهُمَا، مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ إِثْمًا، فَإِنْ كَانَ إِثْمًا كَانَ أَبْعَدَ النَّاسِ مِنْهُ، وَمَا انْتَقَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لِنَفْسِهِ فِي شَىْءٍ قَطُّ، إِلاَّ أَنْ تُنْتَهَكَ حُرْمَةُ اللَّهِ، فَيَنْتَقِمَ بِهَا لِلَّهِ

Narrated Aisha (RA): Whenever the Messenger of Allah (SAW) was given a choice between two matters, he chose the easier of the two as long as it was not sinful; if it was sinful, he was the furthest of people from it. He never took revenge for himself, except when the sanctities of Allah were violated, then he would act for Allah's sake.

لاَ يَزَالُ قَلْبُ الْكَبِيرِ شَابًّا فِي اثْنَتَيْنِ فِي حُبِّ الدُّنْيَا، وَطُولِ الأَمَلِ

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say, "The heart of an old man remains young in two things: love of this world and long hopes."

تَعِسَ عَبْدُ الدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمِ وَالْقَطِيفَةِ وَالْخَمِيصَةِ، إِنْ أُعْطِيَ رَضِيَ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يُعْطَ لَمْ يَرْضَ

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said, "Wretched is the slave of the dinar, the dirham, fine velvet and silk garments: if he is given, he is pleased, and if he is not given, he is displeased."

لَوْ كَانَ لاِبْنِ آدَمَ وَادِيَانِ مِنْ مَالٍ لاَبْتَغَى ثَالِثًا، وَلاَ يَمْلأُ جَوْفَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلاَّ التُّرَابُ، وَيَتُوبُ اللَّهُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ

Narrated Ibn Abbas (RA): I heard the Prophet (SAW) say, "If the son of Adam had two valleys of wealth, he would long for a third, and nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust. And Allah turns in forgiveness to whoever repents."

مَنْ أَحَبَّ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ، وَمَنْ كَرِهَ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ كَرِهَ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ

Narrated Ubadah ibn as-Samit (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said, "Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him; and whoever hates to meet Allah, Allah hates to meet him." Aisha or one of his wives said, "But we dislike death." He said, "It is not that. Rather, when death comes to the believer, he is given glad tidings of Allah's pleasure and honour, so nothing is dearer to him than what lies ahead; he loves to meet Allah and Allah loves to meet him."

مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُصِبْ مِنْهُ

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Whoever Allah wants good for, He afflicts him with trials."

إِنَّ اللَّهَ إِذَا أَحَبَّ عَبْدًا دَعَا جِبْرِيلَ فَقَالَ إِنِّي أُحِبُّ فُلاَنًا فَأَحِبَّهُ - قَالَ - فَيُحِبُّهُ جِبْرِيلُ ثُمَّ يُنَادِي فِي السَّمَاءِ فَيَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ فُلاَنًا فَأَحِبُّوهُ. فَيُحِبُّهُ أَهْلُ السَّمَاءِ - قَالَ - ثُمَّ يُوضَعُ لَهُ الْقَبُولُ فِي الأَرْضِ

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "When Allah loves a servant, He calls Jibril and says, 'I love so-and-so, so love him.' So Jibril loves him. Then he calls out in the heaven, 'Allah loves so-and-so, so love him,' and the inhabitants of the heaven love him. Then acceptance is placed for him on the earth."

يُسْتَجَابُ لأَحَدِكُمْ مَا لَمْ يَعْجَلْ يَقُولُ دَعَوْتُ فَلَمْ يُسْتَجَبْ لِي

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "The supplication of any of you is answered as long as he is not hasty, saying, 'I supplicated, but I was not answered.'"

مَا ذِئْبَانِ جَائِعَانِ أُرْسِلاَ فِي غَنَمٍ بِأَفْسَدَ لَهَا مِنْ حِرْصِ الْمَرْءِ عَلَى الْمَالِ وَالشَّرَفِ لِدِينِهِ

Narrated Ka'b ibn Malik (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Two hungry wolves let loose among sheep do not cause more damage to them than a man's greed for wealth and status does to his religion."

الأَنْبِيَاءُ ثُمَّ الأَمْثَلُ فَالأَمْثَلُ فَيُبْتَلَى الرَّجُلُ عَلَى حَسَبِ دِينِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ دِينُهُ صُلْبًا اشْتَدَّ بَلاَؤُهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ فِي دِينِهِ رِقَّةٌ ابْتُلِيَ عَلَى حَسَبِ دِينِهِ فَمَا يَبْرَحُ الْبَلاَءُ بِالْعَبْدِ حَتَّى يَتْرُكَهُ يَمْشِي عَلَى الأَرْضِ مَا عَلَيْهِ خَطِيئَةٌ

Narrated Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (RA): A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah, which people are tested most severely?" He said, "The Prophets, then those most like them, then those most like them. A man is tested according to his religion: if his religion is firm, his trials are more severe, and if there is weakness in his religion, he is tested according to it. Trials will continue to afflict the servant until they leave him walking on the earth without any sin."

يَتْبَعُ الْمَيِّتَ ثَلاَثَةٌ، فَيَرْجِعُ اثْنَانِ وَيَبْقَى مَعَهُ وَاحِدٌ، يَتْبَعُهُ أَهْلُهُ وَمَالُهُ وَعَمَلُهُ، فَيَرْجِعُ أَهْلُهُ وَمَالُهُ، وَيَبْقَى عَمَلُهُ

Narrated Anas ibn Malik (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Three things follow the deceased: two return and one remains with him. His family, his wealth and his deeds follow him; his family and his wealth return, and his deeds remain."

مَا أَكَلَ أَحَدٌ طَعَامًا قَطُّ خَيْرًا مِنْ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ مِنْ عَمَلِ يَدِهِ، وَإِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ دَاوُدَ ـ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ ـ كَانَ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ عَمَلِ يَدِهِ

Narrated Al-Miqdam ibn Ma'dikarib (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said, "No one has ever eaten better food than what he eats from the work of his own hands. The Prophet of Allah, Dawud (AS), used to eat from the work of his own hands."
