Help Your Brother, Whether He Is the Oppressor or the Oppressed

انْصُرْ أَخَاكَ ظَالِمًا أَوْ مَظْلُومًا. قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَذَا نَنْصُرُهُ مَظْلُومًا، فَكَيْفَ نَنْصُرُهُ ظَالِمًا قَالَ تَأْخُذُ فَوْقَ يَدَيْهِ

Transliteration

Unsur akhaka zaliman aw mazluma. Qalu: ya rasulallah, hadha nansuruhu mazluma, fakayfa nansuruhu zalima? Qala: ta'khudhu fawqa yadayh

Translation

Narrated Anas ibn Malik (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or oppressed." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we help him when he is oppressed, but how do we help him when he is an oppressor?" He said, "By holding back his hand [from oppressing]."
