لَيْسَ الْوَاصِلُ بِالْمُكَافِئِ، وَلَكِنِ الْوَاصِلُ الَّذِي إِذَا قَطَعَتْ رَحِمُهُ وَصَلَهَا

Transliteration

Laysal-wasilu bil-mukafi', wa lakinil-wasilul-ladhi idha qata'at rahimuhu wasalaha

Translation

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said, "The one who maintains ties of kinship is not the one who merely reciprocates; rather, the one who maintains ties of kinship is the one who, when his relatives cut him off, reconnects with them."
