Those Under Your Authority Are Your Brothers

✓ Sahih
Sahih al-Bukhari · 30·Narrated by Abu Dharr (RA)

Ya Aba Dharr, a'ayyartahu bi-ummih? Innaka-mru'un fika jahiliyyah, ikhwanukum khawalukum, ja'alahumullahu tahta aydikum, faman kana akhuhu tahta yadihi falyut'imhu mimma ya'kul, walyulbishu mimma yalbas, wa la tukallifuhum ma yaghlibuhum, fa-in kallaftumuhum fa-a'inuhum

Translation

Narrated Abu Dharr (RA): I insulted a man by taunting him about his mother, and the Prophet (SAW) said, "O Abu Dharr, did you taunt him about his mother? You are a man who still has some traits of ignorance. Your servants are your brothers whom Allah has placed under your authority. So whoever has his brother under him, let him feed him from what he eats and clothe him from what he wears. Do not burden them beyond their ability, and if you do burden them, then help them."
