The Prophet Always Chose the Easier of Two Options

✓ Sahih
Sahih al-Bukhari · 6126·Narrated by Aisha (RA)

Transliteration

Ma khuyyira rasulullahi bayna amrayni qattu illa akhadha aysarahuma ma lam yakun ithma, fa-in kana ithman kana ab'adan-nasi minh, wa mantaqama rasulullahi linafsihi fi shay'in qattu illa an tuntahaka hurmatullahi fayantaqima biha lillah

Translation

Narrated Aisha (RA): Whenever the Messenger of Allah (SAW) was given a choice between two matters, he chose the easier of the two as long as it was not sinful; if it was sinful, he was the furthest of people from it. He never took revenge for himself, except when the sanctities of Allah were violated, then he would act for Allah's sake.

Practice This Today

When faced with two permissible choices today, choose the easier one without guilt — and let go of a personal grudge.
