Three Follow the Dead — Two Return, One Remains

يَتْبَعُ الْمَيِّتَ ثَلاَثَةٌ، فَيَرْجِعُ اثْنَانِ وَيَبْقَى مَعَهُ وَاحِدٌ، يَتْبَعُهُ أَهْلُهُ وَمَالُهُ وَعَمَلُهُ، فَيَرْجِعُ أَهْلُهُ وَمَالُهُ، وَيَبْقَى عَمَلُهُ

Transliteration

Yatba'ul-mayyita thalathah, fayarji'u ithnani wa yabqa ma'ahu wahid: yatba'uhu ahluhu wa maluhu wa 'amaluh, fayarji'u ahluhu wa maluh, wa yabqa 'amaluh

Translation

Narrated Anas ibn Malik (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Three things follow the deceased: two return and one remains with him. His family, his wealth and his deeds follow him; his family and his wealth return, and his deeds remain."
