A House in Paradise for Leaving Arguments, Lies and Bad Character

✓ Hasan
Sunan Abu Dawud · 4800·Narrated by Abu Umamah (RA)

Transliteration

Ana za'imun bi-baytin fi rabadil-jannati liman tarakal-mira'a wa in kana muhiqqa, wa bi-baytin fi wasatil-jannati liman tarakal-kadhiba wa in kana maziha, wa bi-baytin fi a'lal-jannati liman hassana khuluqah

Translation

Narrated Abu Umamah (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said, "I guarantee a house in the surroundings of Paradise for a man who avoids quarrelling even if he were in the right, a house in the middle of Paradise for a man who avoids lying even if he were joking, and a house in the upper part of Paradise for a man who makes his character good."

Practice This Today

Today, let go of one argument even if you are right, and avoid even a 'harmless' lie in a joke. Each is a step toward a house in Jannah.
