My Servant Draws Near to Me Until I Love Him

✓ Sahih
Sahih al-Bukhari · 6502·Narrated by Abu Hurayrah (RA)

Translation

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Allah said: 'Whoever shows enmity to a friend of Mine, I declare war against him. My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more beloved to Me than what I have made obligatory upon him, and My servant keeps drawing near to Me with voluntary deeds until I love him. When I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. If he asks Me, I will surely give him, and if he seeks My refuge, I will surely grant him refuge. I do not hesitate in anything I do as I hesitate [to take] the soul of the believer: he hates death, and I hate to displease him.'"
