The Man Who Visited His Brother for Allah's Sake
أَنَّ رَجُلاً زَارَ أَخًا لَهُ فِي قَرْيَةٍ أُخْرَى فَأَرْصَدَ اللَّهُ لَهُ عَلَى مَدْرَجَتِهِ مَلَكًا فَلَمَّا أَتَى عَلَيْهِ قَالَ أَيْنَ تُرِيدُ قَالَ أُرِيدُ أَخًا لِي فِي هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ. قَالَ هَلْ لَكَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تَرُبُّهَا قَالَ لاَ غَيْرَ أَنِّي أَحْبَبْتُهُ فِي اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ. قَالَ فَإِنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَحَبَّكَ كَمَا أَحْبَبْتَهُ فِيهِ
Transliteration
Anna rajulan zara akhan lahu fi qaryatin ukhra, fa-arsadallahu lahu 'ala madrajatihi malakan, falamma ata 'alayhi qal: ayna turid? Qal: uridu akhan li fi hadhihil-qaryah. Qal: hal laka 'alayhi min ni'matin tarubbuha? Qal: la, ghayra anni ahbabtuhu fillahi 'azza wa jall. Qal: fa-inni rasulullahi ilayka bi-annallaha qad ahabbaka kama ahbabtahu fih
Translation
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "A man visited a brother of his in another town, so Allah sent an angel to wait for him on his way. When he reached him, the angel said, 'Where are you going?' He said, 'To a brother of mine in this town.' The angel asked, 'Has he done you a favour you are going to repay?' He said, 'No, except that I love him for the sake of Allah.' The angel said, 'I am a messenger from Allah to you, to tell you that Allah loves you as you have loved him for His sake.'"
