Sahih
Sahih Bukhari · 5006·Narrated by Abu Sa'id ibn al-Mu'alla (RA)

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ هِيَ السَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنُ الْعَظِيمُ الَّذِي أُوتِيتُهُ

Transliteration

Al-ḥamdu lillāhi Rabbil-'ālamīn hiya-s-sab'ul-mathānī wal-Qur'ānu-l-'aẓīmulladhī ūtītuhu

Translation

Narrated Abu Sa'id ibn al-Mu'alla (RA): I was praying when the Prophet ﷺ called me, but I did not respond until I had finished. Then I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I was praying.' He ﷺ said: 'Did not Allah say: Respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you?' He then said: 'Shall I not teach you the greatest surah in the Quran before you leave the mosque?' Then as we were about to leave, he said: 'It is: Al-Ḥamdulillāhi Rabbil-'ālamīn — it is the seven oft-repeated verses (as-sab'ul mathānī) and the great Quran that has been given to me.'
