The Prophet Never Criticized Food — He Ate It or Left It

Sahih
Sahih al-Bukhari · 3563·Narrated by Abu Hurayrah (RA)

مَا عَابَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم طَعَامًا قَطُّ إِنِ اشْتَهَاهُ أَكَلَهُ وَإِنْ كَرِهَهُ تَرَكَهُ

Transliteration

Ma 'aban-Nabiyyu ﷺ ta'aman qattu, in ishtahahu akalahu wa in karihahu tarakah

Translation

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA): The Prophet (SAW) never criticised food at all. If he liked it he ate it, and if he disliked it he left it alone.

Practice This Today

Never criticise food served to you — not its taste, quantity, or presentation. Simply eat what you like and quietly leave what you do not. This is the way of the Prophet (SAW).
