Translation

Narrated Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said, 'Beware of sitting on roads.' They said, 'We have no alternative — those are our gathering places where we talk.' He said, 'If you must sit there, then give the road its rights.' They asked, 'What are the rights of the road?' He said, 'Lowering the gaze, refraining from harm, returning the salaam, enjoining what is good, and forbidding what is evil.'

Practice This Today

In any public space today — a street, café, or office — observe the rights of the space: lower your gaze, cause no harm, return greetings, and speak good.
